Gaming server latency test
See how your connection reaches the gaming destinations in our list, measured with real HTTPS requests from your own browser, and whether the numbers are normal for the rest of the world.
Free. Runs in your browser with real HTTPS requests. Nothing to install.
What this test measures
The test sends small requests from your browser to every destination in the Gaming category and times each answer. You get an average, a best and worst pass, and a verdict for every destination. The same request is repeated several times, because one number tells you very little: it is the spread between the passes that shows an unstable line.
This is the network path between you and each destination, not a particular game. A game server can be busy or far away even when your line is perfect, and a perfect game server cannot help a bad line. Use this test to find out which of the two you are dealing with.
How to read the result
Every destination is shown next to its world average, built from tests by other visitors. Green means you are in line with, or faster than, most people. Yellow means a little slower than usual. Red means clearly slower, which is worth a closer look. A number that is high for everyone, such as a far-away region, is not a problem with your connection, and the comparison makes that visible.
For games the stability matters as much as the average. A line that averages 40 ms but jumps between 20 and 120 ms feels worse than a steady 60 ms. Watch the worst pass and the Unstable counter.
If the numbers look bad
- Test again on a cable. Wi-Fi alone can add tens of milliseconds and a lot of jitter.
- Pause downloads, cloud backups and streaming on the network, then run the test again. A busy upload can slow everything else, a problem known as bufferbloat.
- If only some destinations are red, the problem is on the route to those, not in your home. Your provider can sometimes change that route.
- Run the test at a different time of day. Evening congestion is real.
Questions
Is this the same as the ping shown in a game?
It is close in spirit but not identical. Games usually use UDP to their own servers, while this test uses HTTPS requests to public destinations. It shows the quality of your network path, not the load of a specific game server.
What is a good result?
Lower is better, but compare it with the world average shown next to each destination and look at the worst pass. Steady numbers matter more than the smallest average.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The test runs in your browser and nothing is installed. Your selected destinations and options stay in this browser.
Can I add a game server that is not in the list?
You can add your own address in the destination picker. It is measured in your browser only. It is not saved to the shared data and is never part of a shared report.
